An informed source said on Wednesday that U.S. fund management company Federated Investors (FII.N) is considering bidding for Hermes Investment Management in the UK.
The source said that other buyers may bid for Hermes, including the Australian fund company Challenger (CGF.AX), the United States Old Mutual Asset Management (OMAM.N) and Eaton Vance (EV.N). Hermes manages assets totaling close to 31 billion pounds (41 billion U.S. dollars).
As of September 30, Federated managed a total of US$364 billion in funds.
Hermes, Eaton Vance and Federated Investors did not comment on this news. Reuters did not immediately contact the Challenger outside of regular working hours. Old Mutual Asset Management has not yet responded to requests for comment.
